Willamette Heritage Center Caboose Quilt Challenge

This year’s show has a new and exciting quilt challenge in honor of the Willamette Heritage Center’s (WHC) classic caboose #507 now displayed on the grounds.

Caboose Challenge: Create a quilt no larger than 25” per side. Winner will be chosen by viewers choice at this years Quiltopia show. Turn in your little quilt with Quiltopia entries November 1 at the WHC.

Prize is a household membership to Willamette Heritage Center, (a $60 value). Plus the winning quilt will be hung in a place of honor in the front hospitality area at WHC.

This challenge is sponsored by Willamette Heritage Center and Quiltopia to commemorate WHCs new Oregon & California caboose #507.

DSCN8903-1This caboose is rare because it was built in 1909 for the Oregon & California Railroad, the first railroad connecting the two states. In 1915, the car was transferred to the Southern Pacific Railroad Company. It has now found it’s way to Salem where it is being restored at the Willamette Heritage Center.
